1. Carom Seeds + Flaxseed




Although burning of carom seeds and hovering your baby over its smoke is not recommended, you can always roast a good amount of carom and flax seed in a pan and as the aroma starts to release, put it in a cotton cloth and tie to form a bulb. Hover this bulb in front of your babies nostrils and mouth. Also, dab this bulb on the baby's chest nose and forehead. This method relieves your baby from a blocked nose and irritated throat.

2. Tulsi leaves juice and Honey




Use this remedy if your baby is above 6 months. Take some tulsi leaves and wash it to remove impurities. In a mortar and pestle crush those leaves and strain its juice in a muslin cloth. Mix juice and honey in 1:1 proportion and give it to your baby.

3. Steam+camphor+Essential oil

In a vessel boil water vigorously. Turn off the gas and add few camphor pills and a few drops of essential oils. Place this vessel near to your baby and make sure baby can inhale some amount of steam under your supervision

4. Herbal Tea



Herbal tea is effective for infants above 6 months. Boil small cinnamon stick, one clove, 3-4 tulsi leaves, one pinch of aniseed and one pepper. Let it become warm and add some honey and a few drops of lemon juice. 

Make your baby drink only one teaspoon at a time. Make sure you taste the tea before feeding to your baby. Herbal tea is effective in many ways, it treats swollen and irritated throat, relieves blocked nose and cough.

5. Breastfeed


From all the above remedies, this is the best and effective. Breastfeed as much as possible, as breast milk has natural abilities to protect and cure your child of all external virus and bacteria. 

The sucking action of baby unclogs nostrils and relieves cough. Baby gets required nutrition from breast milk for the day.


So when you notice signs of cold and cough in your baby do not rush to pediatrics; instead rush into your kitchen!
